Big Fat Liar!

You've all heard right? About Matt Farmer, the guy who auditioned on American Idol with a sob story and actually went through to Hollywood when in reality it was all a BIG FAT LIE?

I don't even own a TV, but I have loved American Idol from season one and this year I am following it on their YouTube channel. I just saw his audition and the opening scene was of his adorable 3 year old girl talking about a boat. I thought she sounded so adorable and I have this bad habit of reading the viewer's comments, so I paused the video and scrolled down to find a sea of hate comments on him saying he was a fake. And some clueless people like me were asking how they all know it's fake. Some of the responses lead me here

He has come clean now, admitting the he really did lie. And I choose to believe him when he says he has a problem with lying and needs help but still - he involved his daughter in it! That's just not cool. If you haven't seen it yet, you really should watch this video where he tells the story. It's so believable when you don't know the truth.

This is just sad. He isn't the best but he can sing. Even worse is, in his audition he said he wants his little girl to see this in fifteen years and be proud. But now that he is exposed as the man who lied on national television for pity, I'm thinking, what is she going to think when she's old enough to know about it? I hope he gets better and they sort it out.

I think American Idol should focus on giving airtime to the most amazing singers instead of giving it to people with the sad tales. Everybody has bad things going on in their lives. Some more so than others. But I don't think American Idol is the show for telling people about it. I'm not even sure if they SHOULD be telling the whole world about it. Ever.

Anyway, that's just me. What do you think?
